Spokane River Family Wellness PLLC, doing business as Spokane River Birth Center and as Spokane River Midwives, provides midwifery and birth center care in Spokane Valley, Washington. This policy explains what information this website collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. It covers spokanerivermidwives.com only. It does not cover the medical records we keep for clients of the practice, which are governed by our clinical privacy practices and by state and federal health privacy law.

Information you give us

This website has two forms, and both send what you enter to our office by email and store a copy in the website database.

Consultation request form

The consultation form on our Request a Consultation page asks for contact details along with questions about your pregnancy and care preferences. Depending on the version of the form you see, this can include your name, email address, phone number, due date, whether this is your first baby, whether you have had a cesarean, your insurance situation, your travel time to the birth center, your birth setting preference, who referred you, and free text you choose to write about your situation.

Some of that is health information. Please read the section below on health information before you fill it out.

Employment application form

The form on our Join Our Team page collects the contact details, work history, and any other information you choose to provide when applying for a position.

Health information you send through this website

We want you to be able to make an informed choice, so we will be direct about how this works.

This website is a public marketing website. It is not a patient portal and it is not an electronic health record. Information submitted through a form on this site travels over an encrypted connection, but it is then stored in the website database on our commercial web hosting account and sent to our office by email. That is a different and less protected environment than the systems we use for clinical records once you become a client of the practice.

Because of that, please send only what you are comfortable sending. You do not need to disclose your full medical history to request a consultation. If you would rather not enter health details into a web form, call us at (509) 443-4712 and we will take your request by phone instead. Once you are a client, we will tell you which secure channels to use for clinical information, and we ask that you use those rather than this website.

Information collected automatically

When you visit this site, some information is collected without you entering it:

• Standard web server records, including your IP address, browser type, the pages you request, and the date and time of the request. Our host keeps these as part of running and securing the site.
• Analytics data. We use Google Analytics (measurement ID G-F7PLSY2ZXE) to understand how the site is used, including which pages are visited and roughly where visitors are located. Google sets cookies to do this.
• Security and anti-spam data. Limit Login Attempts Reloaded records IP addresses of failed login attempts to our administrative area. Akismet screens form submissions for spam and, as part of that, transmits submission data to Akismet for evaluation. Google reCAPTCHA runs on our forms to block automated abuse and collects device and interaction signals for that purpose.

At present, analytics run on every page of this site, including the consultation page. If you do not want that, you can block cookies or use your browser private mode, and browser extensions that block analytics will prevent it as well.

Embedded and third-party content

Some pages load content from other companies, and those companies can see your request and may set their own cookies. Their handling of that data is governed by their policies, not ours.

• Google Maps, embedded on our Spokane Valley Clinic page.
• Google Fonts, used for typography across the site.
• Google reCAPTCHA, used on our forms.
• Instagram, whose public feed is displayed on the site.

We do not run advertising pixels on this site. There is no Meta or Facebook pixel, and we do not run retargeting advertising based on your visit.

How we use your information

• To respond to consultation requests and answer questions about our care.
• To schedule and provide midwifery and birth center services.
• To review employment applications.
• To operate, secure, and improve this website.
• To meet legal, professional, and recordkeeping obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not sell or share consumer health data.

Data Sharing

• Customer data is not shared with 3rd parties for promotional or marketing purposes.
• Mobile opt-in and consent are never shared with anyone for any purpose. Any information sharing that may be mentioned elsewhere in this policy excludes mobile opt-in data.

The service providers that operate this website, including our web host, email delivery provider, analytics provider, and anti-spam and security providers, process data on our behalf so the site can function. We also disclose information where the law requires it.

Messaging Program Terms and Conditions

1. The messaging program consists of general customer care messaging to answer questions and provide support to customers. Messages will be sent from (833) 709-8880.
2. You can cancel the SMS service at any time. Just text ‘STOP’ to the phone number from which you received messages. After you send the SMS message ‘STOP’ to us, we will send you an SMS message to confirm that you have been unsubscribed. After this, you will no longer receive SMS messages from us. If you want to join again, just sign up as you did the first time and we will start sending SMS messages to you again.
3. If you are experiencing issues with the messaging program you can reply with the keyword HELP for more assistance, or you can get help directly at spokanerivermidwives@gmail.com.
4. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
5. As always, message and data rates may apply for any messages sent to you from us and to us from you. Message frequency will vary based on communication needs. If you have any questions about your text plan or data plan, it is best to contact your wireless provider.

You can sign up for text messages on our Text Message Sign Up page. Signing up is optional, and you can stop at any time.

How long we keep information

Form submissions are kept in the website database and in our email for as long as needed to respond to you and to keep an accurate record of our correspondence. Clinical records for clients of the practice are kept separately, for the periods required by Washington law and professional standards. Analytics and server logs are kept according to the retention settings of the providers listed above. If you would like us to delete a form submission you sent through this site, contact us and we will remove it, unless we are required to keep it.

Security

This site is served over HTTPS, administrative logins are rate limited, and access to the website is restricted to people who need it. No website can promise perfect security, and we will not claim otherwise. That is part of why we ask you not to send detailed clinical information through this site.

Your choices and your rights

• Text messages. Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving them, as described above.
• Email. Ask us to stop sending non-essential email and we will.
• Cookies and analytics. Block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or use a tracker blocker.
• Access and deletion. Ask us what information we hold about you from this website, and ask us to correct or delete it.

Washington residents have additional rights over consumer health data under the My Health My Data Act, including the right to confirm whether we collect, share, or sell it, the right to withdraw consent, and the right to have it deleted. To make any of these requests, contact us using the details below and tell us what you would like us to do.

Children

This website is intended for adults seeking maternity and newborn care. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through this site. If you believe a child has submitted information here, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our practices change, and we will update the effective date at the top when we do.
